MAY 15, 2008 -- Nissan next-gen Cube or photoshop? Supposedly this image from Autoblog of the next generation Nissan Cube is a leaked version of the real deal. We have some doubts, namely because of the innovative no-blind spot for RHD drivers. Nissan told us that that feature would likely be dropped because of the extra expense in changing the shell for RHD and LHD versions.
MAY 14, 2008 -- Sources say this is the new 370Z. Nissan North America won't unveil the new Z car, reportedly the 370Z shown here, until the LA Auto Show this fall. Nissan Sport magazine will be ready....

MAY 13, 2008 -- Nissan sets 2010 as timeline for electric car.TheNew York Times is reporting that Nissan plans to introduce an all-electric car in the US and in Japan in 2010. The car company plans a full line of electric vehicles by 2012 of all sizes. Click here to read the story.

MAY 5, 2008 -- GT-R drops 7:29 at Nurburgring. The 2009 GT-R put down a lap time of 7 minutes, 29 seconds at the fabled Nurburgring in April ... in the base model with standard Japanese-market tires. The time, set by GT-R chief test driver Tochio Suzuki, is one of the fastest ever recorded at the 'ring by a production vehicle. Look for our full test drive in the Summer 2008 issue!
FEB 08, 2008 -- Magazine Download: Winter 2007 (#2). The Winter 2007 (#2) issue of Nissan Sport sold out in weeks. Nissan Sport has since grown 16 more pages, added 7 more project vehicles (240SX, Titan, Z32, 350Z Street, Xterra Off-Road, Z31, Frontier), expanded motorsports coverage (Notorious Turns takes you through the hardest turns on America's tracks), improved web coverage (Sarah's Web Watch), and added First Takes, a section decicated to new Nissan and Infiniti releases (production and concept). MAY 2, 2008 -- 370Z Reportedly 200 lbs lighter. Road & Track is reporting that the upcoming Nissan 370Z is going to be smaller and lighter, as originally reported by Nissan Sport. Length will drop by 6.5 inches and the car will weigh 200 lbs less, tipping the scales at an estimated 3,010 lbs. Horsepower is estimated to be an eye-popping 350, dropping the 0-60 time to less than 5 seconds. Read more here.
APR 29, 2008 -- Nissan working on new concept: EA2.Nissan announced today they are working on a new concept car. Labeled 'EA2', it's equipped with X-by-wire technology. This technology uses wires and electrical impulses to control steering, braking and transmission systems. In theory, this could allow for lighter and more efficient packaging, together with integrating these systems for less power drain on the engine. EIC David Muramoto, in Portugal, also caught a glimpse of what may be the next Z car and a Infiniti sports car concept. Stay tuned!

We are excited to announce that starting with the Summer 2008 issue, releasing in mid July, Nissan Sport will be in nearly 200 more Barnes & Noble locations, putting us into over 80% of all stores. APR 25, 2008 -- Nissan 360. Nissan 360 brings together around 100 Nissan and Infiniti products from around the world, technical displays, concept vehicles, as well as Nissan's senior leadership team, and of course Editor in Chief David Muramoto will be there! April 16 -- Chrysler and Nissan to team up? After a public announcement this week from the two giants, it looks like the news rumored back in December is true. Nissan plans to build a small car for Chrysler to sell in Japan, while the Nissan Titan will ultimately be replaced in the US by a Chrysler manufactured full-size pickup (a Nissan designed variant of the Dodge Ram).

April 9 -- Nissan Motorsports Surprise, Nissan Motorsports announced a parts support program for 2008. APR 03, 2008 -- GT-R Testing Underway!Motor Trend, Car and Driver, and the other big mags have been testing the Nissan GT-R and are discovering a) it's faster than advertised (3.3 seconds 0-60) and b) it has more horsepower than advertised (over 510 hp). Nissan Sport is now testing the GT-R in Reno. Hot damn, it's fast. Stay tuned!.

MAR 24, 2008 -- Nissan Expects to Meet Global Sales Target. Despite a downturn in the US economy, Carlos Ghosn said that Nissan expects to meet its global sales target of 3.7 million vehicles, driven largely by sales in emerging markets. Nissan's stock jumped 4 percent today and helped Japan's stock market lead a nice rally.

MAR 19, 2008 -- Nissan Unveils All-Electric Cube in NY. The Denki Cube Concept, which means electric, made a little splash at the New York Auto Show. Based on the current Cube, the Denki features an all electric powerplant, serving as a reminder that Nissan is looking past hybrids and on to more aggressive technology. MAR 13, 2008 -- Nissan Xterra Boasts Most Crush-Proof SUV Roof. The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety tested 31 SUVs for roof strength and found the 2000-04 Xterra tops, absorbing 9,400 lbs of force before denting a mere 2". Download the IIHS report at right.
MAR 12, 2008 -- NNA's Mark McNabb Resigns. Nissan North America's top sales and marketing executive resigned today due to personal reasons. The move is a surprise and could be due to the aggressive (some say unrealistic) sales targets from execs. Brian Carolin, a senior VP, takes his place.
MAR 11, 2008 -- New spy shots and photoshopped images of the rumored 370Z. While there is not a ton of new info available, two Japanese car magazines have released images of what is reported to be the Nissan 370Z. Visit the forum over at Fresh Alloy for more info.
MAR 6, 2008 -- Infiniti to Add Diesel to European Market. Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn: "As Infiniti starts to build volume and credibility, from 2010 we will be ready to offer our customers the latest generation of advanced diesel and hybrid powertrains." The technology will initially be on the EX and FX. No word on whether Infinitis in the US will see diesels anytime soon, although the US-bound 2010 Nissan Maxima will be offered with a diesel.
FEB 29, 2008 -- Consumer Reports Tabs Infiniti G35 one of 10 Best. The 2008 Infiniti G35 was named by Consumer Reports as one of the top ten cars on the market, ranking first in upscale sedans. Additionally, the magazine ranked Nissan vehicles among the top makes, tied for fourth among all brands, just behind fellow Japanese companies.
FEB 28, 2008 -- Infiniti G37, Nissan Qashqai Finalists for World Car of the Year. Three Nissan vehicles are finalists for World Car of the Year: the Skyline Coupe/Infiniti G37, the Qashqai/Dualis, and the Altima Hybrid (for hybrid of the year). Winners will be announced at the New York Auto Show. Note: the 2009 Nissan GT-R was not eligible this year. Click here for more details.
FEB 27, 2008 -- 2009 Infiniti EX37 to Hit Europe. Nissan is releasing the Infiniti EX37 in its European markets. The engine is the 3.7-liter VQHR found on the G37. That raises the horsepower numbers to 305 hp and 258 lb-ft torque. Will it replace the EX35 in the US in 2009? No word yet from Infiniti.
FEB 26, 2008 -- 2009 Nissan Murano Tops in Safety. Nissan's mid-sized Murano SUV earned a Top Safety Pick award from the Insuarance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). When testing nine mid-sized SUV models, the IIHS found the Murano to be the best overall performer in front, side, and rear crash test evaluations. Read the story here.
FEB 25, 2008 -- Infiniti EX35 Named Top Safety Pick for 2008. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has named the 2008 Infiniti EX35 as one of its top saftey picks for the 2008 model year. The CUV garnered top marks for high speed front and side collisions and has good head restraints that protect the neck in rear-end collisions.
FEB 22, 2008 -- No US-Spec GT-R "Speed Limiter." NNA: "Regarding a feature on the 2009 Nissan GT-R that limits the top speed to 110 mph while operating the vehicle on roadways and removes the limit once the vehicle's GPS system determines that it is on a race track. ... It is an actual feature on the Japan-spec car. ... To confirm, no such technology will be available on the US specification GT-R."
FEB 21, 2008 -- Nissan Trimming US Design Staff. Nissan plans to cut 12 of its approximately 100 design employees. With a studio in both Detroit and San Diego, Nissan expects most of the cuts to come from the San Diego facility. "The reason we're doing it, is that the process, from the beginning to the start of production, from the idea to the showroom, is becoming shorter," Bruce Campbell, vice president at Nissan Design America, told TheDetroit News. Currently it takes Nissan about 24 months to develop a vehicle, up from 48 months ten years ago. The measure is expected to save money and improve efficiency. Click here for the full story.
FEB 20, 2008 -- Recalls for Infiniti EX35 and Nissan Muranos. Nissan is recalling 16,365 Murano and Infiniti EX 35 sport-utility vehicles to fix a software program that may lead passenger air bags to fail. The recall affects 11,511 Muranos from model year 2009 and 4,854 EX35s from 2008, according to a letter Nissan posted on the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's website. The air bags may fail to inflate in a crash "if the vehicle battery becomes significantly discharged."
FEB 19, 2008 -- Infiniti May Get Supercar. Nissan is thinking about using the GT-R as a basis for a future Infiniti supercar. Shiro Nakamura, Nissan's global design chief, told CAR magazine, "we have developed the platform and the transaxle powertrain--an Infiniti version is a future possibility ... we are thinking about it." Other cars in Infiniti's future could include a "people" mover and a high-end limo.
